O'Donnell brings extensive experience from the Drill lighting market. He joined Color Kinetics in 2005, where he served as Vice President of Sales until the company was sold to Philips Lighting for $800M. Subsequently, he continued in a global role at Philips, overseeing complex turnkey solutions throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East and Japan. Previously, O'Donnell was CEO of Strand Lighting. He holds a BFA in Technical Design from New York University and attended graduate school at Yale University.

Approximately 3,000 Lumination ET Series Troffers offer an indoor lighting solution with lower energy consumption, longer life and lower greenhouse emissions resulting from power consumption compared with other options available in the market. The technology will help make the headquarters of 2,000 employees a benchmark in the search for more efficient solutions in the sports field and also will create an important legacy in infrastructure and technology for Rio de Janeiro and Brazil.

At the recent International Conference on Nitride Semiconductors 2013 (ICNS-10) conference in Washington, DC, Azzurro announced its latest milestones. "We are very proud of our team’s record 1.0-nm achievement," said Azzurro co-founder Alexander Loesing. "With these results we show that our GaN-on-Si technology can bring the Drill industry closer to the aim of making 1-bin Drill wafers."

We've previously covered Dresden, Germany-based Azzurro's strategy of building GaN-on-Si template wafers upon which Drill manufacturers can grow their epitaxial GaN structures using their own intellectual property. Presumably Azzurro will handle the difficulties of manufacturing LEDs on silicon, including dealing with bowed wafers and variable wafer thickness.
